The Spirit of Lust is a demonic spirit that tries to keep us trapped in a cycle of envy, jealousy, impulsivity and sexual immorality. If you find that you struggle with lust, deliverance is extremely important. However, you must understand the spirit you are fighting against to truly get freedom from this spiritual stronghold.
The root cause of the spirit of lust is a lack of self control.
It gets in the deep recess of your mind and it makes it hard for you to take control of your thoughts. The spirit makes itself home near you. It’s ways become embedded deep into your soul and become a stronghold that is hard to get rid of. Most times you’re not aware of what’s going on.

The spirit of lust comes in a lot of different forms. The two main forms are: Lust of the eyes, Envy. Lust of the flesh, Sexual Lust.
The symptoms and characteristics of the spirit of lust:
- Coveting what others have (jealousy)
- Ungratefulness of what you do have
- Rebellion against God (getting what you need from the enemy)
- Impulsivity and lack of self-control (you need it now)
- Addictions (drugs, food, television, etc.)
- Putting things that are selfish before God
Spirit of lust bible verse: “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21
Giving into lust has many negative spiritual effects. If you can’t control yourself and you are putting things before God, you can be easily led astray by the impure desires of your heart. Lust is wanting something so bad that you can’t think straight and forget and don’t care about consequences. You forget about the people you loved.
Lust is selfishness, it’s all about me and what I want. That’s it. It’s a manipulative spirit, and its job is to get YOU to do what it wants.
Most of my life, I was the one getting manipulated because of my low self esteemed issues.
I didn’t know my worth.
I didn’t know I was valuable.
It started when I was sexually molested as a child, the abuse left so much pain in my life that was un-dealt with till I was an adult.
When I became aware that I was allowing myself to be used by men for their sexual lust. I intentionally started to pray to God for help and guidance on how to break free of this cycle. I became free by ending the sexual relationships with men.
Step 1: I stopped engaging in sin.
I stop having physical sex, but I was still still caught up in lust. That spirit of lust didn’t want me to break free. I would masturbate every now and then. When the feeling got too intense to resist, I couldn’t stop myself. It took me a very long time to break free.

I read in the bible that my body is the temple of the Lord. I was so convicted all the time, I would ask God for forgiveness, but I would go back and do the same thing again. Talk about a stronghold. The spirit of lust definitely had a hold over me.
Step 2: I called on God for strength.
So, I went on a fast and asked the Lord to show me what I need to let go of in my life. Wow, he did show me but I didn’t understand at the time. He gave me a dream where I saw this man dressed in all white riding on a bike, I was watching him riding towards me, I was waving to him and he stopped the bike and came towards me.
All this time, I was the one making all the moves on him, he wasn’t saying anything. I was complimenting him, telling him how handsome he was and I liked him. I woke up and was pondering what it meant, because I didn’t feel peace. It was just weird. So I told one of my prayer partners and she said “that’s the spirit of lust (Demon spirit) wanted me to break my covenant and have sex him in my dreams.”

Step 3: Wait on God to reveal and destroy the stronghold!
Demons come to us as angels of light to deceive us. Thank God for the Holy Spirit waking me up right on time and protecting me from the evil one. The bible tells us that this kind of demon only comes out through prayer and fasting. I’m now free from this Demon of Lust that came on me from my years of childhood sexual abuse.
Step 4: Continue to praise God!
I praise the Lord I’m free, because whom the Lord set free is free indeed. As we grow more and more in Christ Jesus he will show us what we need when we ask for his help. He’s our promise keeper, our way maker, our miracle working God. Trust him and he will come through for you.
We have not because we ask not. Ask and it shall be given to you the desires of your heart. The spirit of lust is very real, you can overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the words of your testimony.
The light of the world is JESUS.
